Families looking for flexible, personalized learning often ask:“Is your microschool the same as a homeschool co-op?”Not quite—and here’s why.
🏫 Microschool (That’s Us!)
Led by trained educators and tutors with a structured 3-day weekly schedule (Monday–Wednesday, 9:00–11:30 AM)
Curriculum is designed and delivered by our staff—no lesson planning required by parents
Students learn in small, multi-age groups with individualized support
Instruction is based on proven programs like Orton-Gillingham, IEW, and Learn Math Fast
A great fit for homeschool families who want academic support in reading, writing, and math
Parents remain the primary homeschool educators and are still responsible for reporting attendance and progress to their homeschool association.
Homeschool Co-Op
Usually parent-run and organized for shared teaching or enrichment
Parents often volunteer to teach or assist with classes
Instruction may be less structured and vary by session or semester
Co-ops are typically supplemental, not designed to cover full academic needs
Families share decision-making, leadership, and planning
Great for electives, social time, and community—but not always a replacement for academic instruction
Key Takeaway:
Community Literacy Lab’s microschool provides the teaching, but you, the parent, remain in charge of your homeschool reporting.
Our role is to support your child’s learning journey with high-quality, research-based instruction in a nurturing, small-group setting. Your role is to maintain your chosen homeschool status, reporting, and legal requirements in your state.
